Unique Valais roof tiles; green quartz quarried from the local Alps.

Glacier Express: As we neared Zermatt in the Valais region of Switzerland, we began to see fantastic roof patterns made from these lovely, pale-green stone tiles. We later learned that the tiles are made of a green quartzite that is quarried from the local Alps. The carefully matched wavy patterns of these diamond-shaped stone tiles is totally amazing.
