As the glaciers receeded, they left huge rock fields behind (glacial moraine). The little creek running through the moraine field is water from the glacier, which has retreated far up the mountain now. North of Lake Louise is a stretch of road called the Icefields Parkway. Numerous glaciers can be found in the mountains surrounding the Icefields Parkway. In this photo, we are standing at the inlet of Bow Lake, which is the head of the Bow River.
